Native Plant Workshops: Hands-on programming for adults that occur in our plant center.  $16 per member and $20 per nonmember (includes a $10 materials fee per person.

Landscaping with Spring Native Plants

BFNR – April 29, 2:00 pm—4:00 pm

Wake up your garden with cheerful spring blooms! Learn to enhance your landscape, increase biodiversity and reduce the spread of invasive species, and take home a new design for your own garden.  Participants should bring a photo or sketch of their existing garden to this class.  All other materials will be provided.

 

Supporting Birds in Your Backyard

BFNR – May 13, 2:00 pm—4:00 pm

Learn how native trees, shrubs and perennial plants—and proper landscaping technique—can provide the essentials that birds need to survive. Pot up and take home your own native perennials to enhance your own backyard bird habitat. All materials will be provided.

 

Rain Harvesting

BFNR – June 24, 2:00 pm—4:00 pm

Explore sustainable methods for using stormwater.  Learn about rain gardens, rain barrels and rain chains as landscape enhancements, and discuss environmental benefits and cost-savings.  Make your own rain chain to take home. All materials will be provided.

 

Native Plant Container Gardening

Natives plants are not just for the landscape—they can also thrive in decorative pots and raised beds. Discover the best native species to use in a container garden, and create your own to take home. All materials will be provided.

 

Landscaping with Fall Native Plants

BFNR – August 26, 2:00 pm—4:00 pm

Learn how to use fall blooms in your landscape and tips for keeping them healthy.  Discover seasonal sustainable garden practices to prepare your garden beds for winter.  Participants should bring a photo or sketch of their existing garden to this class.  All other materials will be provided.
