Summer Outdoor Discover Camps 2026!

Explore. Play in Nature. Learn with games, crafts, and science activities. Take time to just be a kid, without the distractions of tech. A raptor encounter program is included in each week of camp!

We believe that children’s social, psychological, academic, and physical health is positively impacted when they have daily contact with nature. And what better way to connect your kids to the natural world this summer than ASWP nature day camps!

Campers are broken into age-based groups: Explorers (K-1st grade); Pathfinders (entering 2nd-3rd grade), Trailblazers (entering 4th – 6 grades); Wilderness Skills for Survival (entering 5th  – 8th grades); Birdz (entering 6th – 9th grades); and ANTS (ages 13-18).

Camps take place at Beechwood Farms Nature Reserve (Fox Chapel), Succop Nature Park (Butler), and Buffalo Creek Nature Park (Sarver).

Birding is cool, fun, and the fastest-growing outdoor activity in America. Campers will develop new skills by spending quality time in the field with the correct equipment and with one of our expert guides. Included are guest speakers, visits to Todd Nature Reserve and North Park, and a trip to Moraine State Park to look for Bald Eagles, Ospreys and Cliff Swallows rounding out the week. Binoculars will be available to borrow for the week, with the option to purchase at a discount at the end of camp.

NEW! Birdz 201
Take the next step in your birding adventures with Birdz 201! We will take daily trips to explore unique habitats in various regional birding hotspots, including grasslands, wetlands, and deeper forested areas. We’ll also delve into how we learn about birds, including citizen science programs, like eBird, and curated museum collections. Prerequisite: Past participation in Birdz 101 or equivalent experience. Transportation to field locations from Beechwood is provided. Binoculars will be available to borrow for the week, with the option to purchase at the end of camp.
