When things heat up, song birds adapt to stay cool. They utilize cooler habitats, hold their mouths open to "pant," and spend more time near water sources. If you're visiting one of our preserves during this heat wave, take a cue from the birds:
💧 Drink plenty of water.
🌳 Stay in the shade whenever possible.
🚶 Take it slow and listen to your body.
☀️ Plan your visit for the morning or evening, when temperatures are cooler.
Nature is still a wonderful place to explore—just be sure to stay safe while you enjoy it!
