Northern Cardinal October 1, 2026 Did you know that Northern Cardinals start with a black beak? This one is likely 12 to 20 days old, as it was moving around but still actively begging for food from its parent. Young can be fed up to 56 days after leaving the nest. Fall is a great time for planting! During the month of October, take advantage of an extra 15% discount on all native trees and shrubs at the Nature Store. That's a total of 25% off for members and 15% off for nonmembers. Planting in the fall helps establish a strong root system so plants are ready to flower, fruit, and grow come spring! Beechwood Farms Nature Reserve 614 Dorseyville Rd. Pittsburgh, PA 15238 Tuesday – Sunday, 9 am – 5 pm
