The 2014 award winners will be recognized at our Members' Picnic this summer!

We offer several opportunities to recognize outstanding service and potential in the fields of environmental education and conservation. See descriptions for requirements, nomination procedures and deadlines. 

The Betty Abbott Excellence in Teaching Award

Presented annually, ASWP's Betty Abbott Excellence in Teaching Award recognizes a classroom teacher in southwestern Pennsylvania who inspires students to become responsible stewards of the natural world through environmental education. Nominations are accepted throughout the year and the award is given in the spring. One-page nominations should be sent to Betty Abbott Award Nominations, Audubon Society of Western PA, 614 Dorseyville Rd., Pittsburgh, PA 15238.


Beulah Frey Environmental Scholarship

ASWP awards $1,000 scholarships to graduating high school seniors from our service area of Allegheny, Armstrong, Butler, Beaver, Fayette, Washington, and Westmoreland counties. Students who are applying to two or four-year colleges to further their studies in an environmentally-related field are eligible to apply. All applications must be post-marked on or before March 31. Scholarships are presented at ASWP's annual banquet held in May. Applications are available beginning in January from this website or through your school's guidance office. W. E. Clyde Todd Award

This long-standing annual award recognizes an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to conservation in western Pennsylvania. Nominations are accepted at any time via letter. Please address your letter to the "W. E. Clyde Todd Award Committee." Awards are traditionally given in the spring.


Trustee Award

The Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania Trustee Award recognizes an organization that has made an outstanding contribution to conservation in western Pennsylvania. Nominations are accepted at any time via letter. Please address your letter to the "ASWP Trustee Award Committee." Awards are annual, traditionally given in the spring.


James H. Hardie Award

The James H. Hardie Award recognizes a business or organization that demonstrates excellence in environmental stewardship. Nominations are accepted at any time via letter. Please address your letter to the "W E Clyde Todd Award Committee." Awards are annual, traditionally given in the spring.
