Hays, Harmar Cams Streaming for 2017 - Pittsburgh Bald Eagles

Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania announces the 2017 launch of the Harmar and Hays Bald Eagle webcams. To view the webcams and to participate in live chats with other eagle fans, visit www.aswp.org. “

Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania’s mission is to connect people to birds and nature, and over the past three years, our Bald Eagle cameras have connected millions of viewers to these impressive birds,” says Jim Bonner, Audubon’s executive director. “We look forward to what we hope will be another successful year for Pittsburgh’s Bald Eagles.”

The webcam at the Harmar nest is owned by Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania (ASWP), streams from ASWP owned property, and is made possible through the generous support of Comcast Business. Additional partners include PixController and Arborel Tree Service. This live video feed has been granted a special permit by the Pennsylvania Game Commission for educational purposes.

“Comcast Business is pleased to once again partner with Audubon to deliver the fast internet speeds needed for a project that has delighted and educated so many people here in the state and around the world,” said Paul Merritt, vice president of Comcast Business for the Keystone Region. “We look forward to another winter and spring of anticipation and wonder.”

The Hays webcam is a collaborative project between PixController and Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania. This live video feed has been granted a Special Permit by the Pennsylvania Game Commission for educational purposes.

“We are excited to be involved with another eagle season in Pittsburgh. The new camera upgrades should enhance the viewing and education experience for all watching the broadcast. Above all we hope for a successful nesting season for both the Harmar and Hays nests,” says Bill Powers, President, PixController.

As in past years, both cameras stream through WildEarth, a dedicated LIVE wildlife platform that focuses on connecting people to animals. “WildEarth is honored to be involved in another season of sharing the Hays and Harmar Eagles with a growing and dedicated community of eagle lovers. These cameras bring enjoyment but also aid the conservation of the Bald Eagle by making people understand and care about the plight of this iconic species,” according to Peter Braat, WildEarth technical director.
